Updates from the Principal

Dear Families and Community Members,

Attendance
If your child is absent, please send a note to our Registrar, Mrs. Villegas.  Your child is counted absent for the day if they are not here for the whole day, or if they arrive after 9am.  Your child is counted tardy if they arrive after 7:40 and before 9am.

Bookaneer Book Fair
Our Book Fair will begin Monday, November 7th and end on November 11th.  Students will have an opportunity to preview the fair on Friday, November 4th.

Updates From the Principal

Picture Day was a HUGE success.  Everyone had fantastic smiles and looked picture perfect!!

Several of our Student Council members participated in the annual Stony Point High School Powder Puff halftime show!  All students were great sports and we were very proud of them!

The National Family Partnership (NFP) organized the first Nationwide Red Ribbon Campaign, in 1985. NFP provides drug awareness by sponsoring the annual National Red Ribbon Celebration. The Red Ribbon has touched the lives of millions of people around the world. In response to the murder of DEA Agent Enrique Camarena, angered parents and youth in communities across the country began wearing Red Ribbons as a symbol of their commitment to raise awareness of the killing and destruction caused by drugs in America.

Today we are focusing on SHARPENING OUR SAWS!! There are four parts of you: Body, Mind, Spirit, & Heart! Think of a way to take care of you today  
Tuesday—Respect Our Differences! Wear MISMATCHED socks!!
There is only one you; therefore, you are valuable & precious! Show how unique and wonderful you are today!
Wednesday—Respect Your Body!! Wear PJs!!
 It is vital that we take care of our bodies by eating healthy foods, getting plenty of sleep, and exercising. What are other ways to take care of our bodies?
Thursday—Respect Your Environment!! Wear Green!!
Taking care of others takes a lot of HEART! Take some time to make your environment a better place!
Friday—Respect Your Super Power!! Wear a Super Hero Shirt!!

Your BRAIN is a powerful thing! We are all uniquely and wonderfully made. Have you discovered your super power?

UIL Parent Info Meeting - Thursday 10/13 from 5:30-6 in Portable 712
Is your child interested in participating in the UIL A+ Academics contest?  There's still time to sign up!  This program is available for students in grades 2-5 and Robertson Elementary will participate in the following events:

Grade 3: Chess Puzzle, Ready Writing, Spelling
Grade 4: Chess Puzzle, Ready Writing, Spelling, Art, Number Sense, Oral Reading

Updates from the Principal

Dear Families and Community Members,

It has been a great start to the new school year.  Thank you to all of the visitors that came out to the campus cookout last week.  It was great to see so many families!! Big thank you to all of our volunteers that were able to help out!!



Celebrations

Robertson wins a $250,000 grant from RRISD
Robertson has been awarded $250,000, which the campus will use to close its achievement gap through a Blended Learning model. Through the five-year Blended Learning implementation, students work with technology and traditional lessons to accelerate learning at their own pace in English Language Arts and math.
Robertson also received a $45,000 Tier II Innovative School Grant for Blended Learning, bringing the total amount allocated to the project to $295,000.

New Benches at Robertson

We are excited to unveil the new benches that were purchased for the front of our school.  Thank you to Dr. Flores and John Yonker for making this happen.

Drop Off Prior to 7:20 AM
Please do not sit in the front drive when you arrive prior to 7:20 to drop off your child(ren).  Please let your students out in  the front area of the school and continue driving.  Also please remember that you are not permitted to be on your cell phone in a school zone. This includes the parent pick up and drop off area.  

Watch D.O.G Night is Wednesday from 6-7PM

Join us for WatchD.O.G. sign up happening this Wednesday.  Dads and their students are invited to attend. We need all of our Dads to come and out and support Robertson by signing up to be a Watch D.O.G.  You will be able to find out more information and enjoy some free pizza Wednesday night.

Late Night in the Library Starts this Wednesday from 4-6PM

Join our librarian for late night in the library, this is a time where students can check out books, get help with homework, or just have a quiet place to study.  

Is your 3rd, 4th, or 5th grader Interested in Dance?

If you have a 3rd-5th grader interested in dance we will have sign up and a parent information meeting on Thursday, October 6th, in the library from 4:15-5:15, cost is $10.00 for the year!  Maximum of 30 students, with previous Dance students given priority enrollment (if there are more than 30 students interested we will have a lottery to choose).

Dear Robertson Families,

Happy New Year!  I hope everyone had a safe and relaxing Holiday Break.  I can't wait to see what 2016 brings!

New Beginnings Collects Cans for The Capital Area Food Bank
This year our students collected cans to donate to The Capital Area Food Bank, students collected and donated over 720 cans!!!  WAY TO GO!!


Welcome our newest Assistant Principal
I am pleased to welcome Jennifer Ackermann Robertson's newest Assistant Principal.  Ms. Ackermann has over 13 years of Elementary Education experience, she has taught Kinder, Fourth, and Second grade, most recently she was an Intervention Specialist in Leander.  Please stop by and say hi.
